Part-time Security Officers are sought for Portland International Airport to maintain vigilance and a command presence at all times. Duties involve conducting post inspections, verifying credentials, and denying access to prohibited items or unauthorized persons. Officers use security equipment and follow Standard Operating Protocols for entry control.

In this role, you will observe persons entering secured areas, perform vehicle inspections, and conduct security screening with direct interaction. Report suspicious activity to management and make emergency notifications as needed. Provide courteous assistance and directions to customers, employees, and visitors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • U.S. citizen, U.S. National or lawful permanent resident
  • Unarmed Private Security certification from the Oregon DPSST
  • Neat, well-groomed and present a professional appearance
  • Able to pass a skills assessment process
  • Must be willing to adhere to the Drug Free Workplace policy
  • Demonstrate ability to learn security operations and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Appear on post in accordance with uniform requirements and fitness for duty
  • Maintain a command presence, vigilance and awareness at all times
  • Conduct post inspections, equipment inspections and review pass along information
  • Verify all persons’ credentials and badges, ensuring name, company, expiration date and photo match
  • Stand post as a deterrent by orally challenging persons seeking access to controlled areas
  • Perform vehicle inspections according to Standard Operating Protocols and post orders
  • Conduct security screening and searches involving direct physical interaction
  • Report unusual or suspicious activity and make emergency notifications as necessary
