About this role

Walden Security is currently recruiting experienced Court Security Officers. CSOs provide armed security to courthouses under the USMS contract. They ensure safety for judges, court personnel, jurors, and the public across facilities.

Day-to-day duties include performing entrance control by enforcing the District’s entry system and operating security screening equipment to detect weapons, contraband, and prohibited items in handbags, briefcases, packages, and more. Officers conduct roving patrols of court facilities and grounds per post orders. They also handle stationary posts monitoring CCTV, duress alarms, courtrooms, judge chambers, and jury rooms.

Additional responsibilities involve providing armed escort services for judges, jurors, and designated individuals. Where applicable, officers direct traffic, control lights, and manage garage parking and pedestrian flow on court properties. They enforce federal law by detaining unauthorized persons threatening safety or access.

In the courtroom, officers secure unattended areas, inspect prior to proceedings, test security devices, and preserve order by enforcing judicial orders and local rules on prohibited items. They prepare reports on labor hours, accidents, bomb threats, unusual incidents, and unlawful acts. This role operates in a structured federal court environment under strict post orders.
