About this role

Receives general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer. Performs a variety of full performance level technical security protective duties. Protects patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.

Enforces facility and security policies and regulations. Investigates reports of potential criminal conduct against Providence staff, visitors, and property. Responds and assists in restraining patients; detains individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer.

Provides protective services to high-risk areas. May support any Providence or affiliated organization in emergent situations in the local service area. Requirements

  • 2 years of Law Enforcement, Security, or Military experience or related work experience in a healthcare setting -OR- relevant college coursework deemed important to the job AND 1 year of experience working within a Providence security department and passage of the SO2 promotion test and oral board
  • For external candidates, at least 5 years of Law Enforcement, Security, or Military experience or related work experience in a healthcare setting or relevant college coursework AND passage of the Security Department SO2 promotion test and oral board within the first 6 months of employment
  • Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role; comply with all state laws and requirements for driving
  • Provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request
  • Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, History, or English (preferred)
