About this role
Responsible for the safety and well-being of patients, visitors, staff, facilities and hospital property. Works Friday - Tuesday, 7:00am - 3:00pm. DH benefits start the first day of employment.
Patrols all areas of the assigned facility looking for illegal or inappropriate activity and security concerns. Proactively provides information, assistance and guidance to patients, visitors, and staff. Conducts internal and external rounds to ensure safety and security.
Assists nursing units and clinical areas with uncooperative, combative or violent patients and visitors using AVADE de-escalation techniques. Responds to security incidents, emergencies, code calls and duress alarms. Monitors parking lots, enforces policies and handles special situations like helicopter arrivals.
Investigates incidents and completes required reports and documentation. Maintains certifications in Taser, Handcuff, Pepper Gel and obtains IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification. Completes training and physical requirements within specified timelines for ongoing role effectiveness.
Requirements
- High school graduate required
- Two years of related experience preferred
- Direct security experience highly preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
- Must maintain Taser, Handcuff, and Pepper Gel certification
- Must complete all required training and pass minimal physical requirements within 90 days of hire
- Must obtain IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification within 6 months of hire
Responsibilities

- Conduct internal and external rounds/patrols to ensure safety and security of facility, property, and occupants
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, ensuring all are appropriately documented
- Assist nursing units with uncooperative, combative or violent patients/visitors using AVADE de-escalation techniques
- Provide patient watch activities to prevent elopement or injury to self/others
- Respond to emergencies, code calls, perform CPR and use AEDs
- Monitor parking lots for compliance, ticket unauthorized vehicles and provide vehicle assistance
- Enforce company policies and complete required reports and documents
