About this role
The Senior Security Control Room Operator leads operational delivery in the Security and Resilience Control Centre (SaRCC), acting as the first point of command for incidents. You direct the Operator, manage calls, alarms, and events effectively, and ensure shift performance on 12-hour rotating shifts. This role supports Aberdeen's commitment to excellent client service through robust physical security.
Day-to-day involves monitoring and operating CCTV, access control, intruder detection, and building management systems. Prioritise tasks, maintain system integrity, and coordinate responses across the estate during incidents. Strong oversight ensures operational continuity in a fast-paced environment.
The SaRCC team operates around the clock with a Controller and Operator per shift, partnering closely with the SaRCC Specialist for crisis response and business continuity. The Controller leads coordination, communication, and escalation processes estate-wide. This setup plays a critical role in Aberdeen's Investments, Adviser, and interactive investor businesses.
Mentor and train Operators to uphold high reporting standards, supporting decision-making in the Specialist's absence. Enhanced rate overtime opportunities provide flexibility. Strengthen talent and culture in a firm focused on client needs and market themes.
Requirements
- Experience in a security control room or similar operational environment
- Confident directing others in fast-moving situations
- Strong corporate experience with sound judgment and effective decision-making
- Strong leadership qualities to mentor less experienced colleagues
- Maintain calm and professionalism under pressure
- Highly reliable and comfortable using Microsoft tools
- Capable of interpreting information from multiple systems
Responsibilities
- Lead the Operator on shift, ensuring effective task allocation, information flow and operational continuity
- Act as first line of command during incidents, ensuring appropriate escalation and coordination across the estate
- Manage alarms, calls and system events, ensuring timely prioritisation and response
- Monitor and operate CCTV, access control, intruder detection and building management systems
- Support the training, coaching and development of Operators and security staff
- Maintain shift performance, task prioritisation and system integrity
- Ensure high standards of reporting and support decision-making in absence of SaRCC Specialist
