About this role

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a Security Officer to work with the Security Department. The philosophy and intent of Security is to protect and prevent illegal or unauthorized activity in the Hospital or on its campus. Security serves, helps and protects patients, visitors, and employees in a variety of manners.

Security Officers conduct patrols to safeguard the hospital grounds and facilities. They respond to incidents, monitor access points, and enforce policies to maintain a safe environment. Daily tasks involve using two-way radios for communication and adapting to changing conditions.

Officers collaborate within the Security Department to support hospital operations. They interact with patients, visitors, and staff, requiring strong interpersonal skills. The role demands vigilance in a dynamic healthcare setting.

This position offers hands-on involvement in hospital protection. Preferred backgrounds build effectiveness in security duties. Physical readiness ensures reliable performance in demanding situations.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Operators License
  • Clean motor vehicle record
  • Meet Hospital Insurance Carrier requirements
  • Past experience in security, law enforcement or military preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills required
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Basic computer skills including typing, keyboarding and using a mouse
  • Basic First Aid knowledge preferred
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Visual and hearing acuity required

Responsibilities

  • Protect and prevent illegal or unauthorized activity in the Hospital or on its campus
  • Serve, help and protect patients, visitors, and employees
  • Conduct security patrols of hospital facilities and grounds
  • Respond to security incidents and emergencies
  • Monitor access and enforce hospital security policies
  • Communicate via two-way radio
  • Escort individuals as needed within the campus
