About this role

Nation Security Services LLC seeks professional, motivated Security K9 Handlers for protective operations at maritime and cargo facilities, stadiums, large venues, special events, and executive protection. Handlers deploy with a trained Explosive Detection Canine (EDC) to deter, detect, and respond to explosive threats in high-visibility environments.

Conduct proactive explosive detection screening in ports, vessels, event sites, and transportation hubs. Operate independently or with security teams while ensuring canine handling, care, training, and welfare. Maintain training, deployment, and operational documentation.

Work in dynamic settings like crowded stadiums, confined vessels, and outdoor venues under varying weather. Adapt to rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and temporary deployments. Travel as required for missions and training.

Provide daily feeding, grooming, conditioning, and health monitoring for the assigned canine. Report medical, behavioral, or performance issues immediately. Comply with company policies, client needs, and regulatory standards while maintaining professional demeanor.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizen or national
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license (REAL ID compliant preferred)
  • Must possess a personally owned vehicle capable of safely transporting a working K9
  • Ability to pass background investigation and drug screening
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances and credentials
  • Must be willing and able to travel
  • Ability to handle and control a working canine weighing 50–90 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive explosive detection screening operations in cargo facilities, ports, vessels, stadiums, event sites, transportation hubs, and executive protection details
  • Operate independently and as part of a coordinated security team
  • Ensure proper handling, care, training, housing, and welfare of the assigned canine
  • Maintain accurate training, deployment, and operational documentation
  • Comply with all Nation Security Services policies, client requirements, and applicable regulatory standards
  • Daily feeding, grooming, conditioning, and health monitoring of assigned canine
  • Conduct regular maintenance and proficiency training to ensure canine readiness
  • Travel as required for training, temporary duty assignments, and deployments
