About this role

The Security Officer at the FAA post safeguards employees, facilities, government property, and assets from loss, theft, damage, unauthorized use, criminal acts, espionage, sabotage, and terrorism. Officers conduct visitor and vehicle control, screening, monitor facility cameras and alarms from intrusion detection systems, and perform magnetometer and X-ray screening. Duties follow the Statement of Work.

Day-to-day tasks include providing courteous access control for personnel and vehicles per the Facility Security Plan. Officers check hand-carried items, operate metal detectors and x-ray machines for visitors and deliveries, and conduct vehicle inspections as directed. Visitor badges are issued, and roving patrols detect unauthorized entry or suspicious activities.

In the Federal-Physical Security business unit, officers report to the Site Captain with no supervisory duties. The role involves inspecting physical safeguards, ensuring security equipment operates properly, securing windows and doors, and handling keys or access cards. Patrols cover potentially hazardous areas while observing for suspicious vehicles or persons on federal property.

Emergency response includes evacuating individuals from life-threatening situations, assisting first responders, administering CPR and AED, and providing basic first aid. Officers deliver situation reports on security incidents like accidents or bomb threats and perform inspections of buildings, grounds, vehicles, and traffic control.
