About this role

The Security Supervisor assists in supervising all aspects of Security and Safety in the hospital. Performs rounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry, assuring personal safety for employees, patients, visitors, and physicians. Assists director with hiring, counseling, staff evaluations, monitoring staff, and arranging schedules.

Ensures security staff adheres to policies and performs daily duties to protect against incidents. Provides training to new employees on the Security Management Program, including incident response and sensitive areas. Oversees documentation of security incidents from report to resolution.

Identifies programs for workplace violence prevention and trains staff on safe de-escalation. Participates in Environment of Care and Managers Meetings, covering director duties during absences. Assists staff with patient interventions, including those on 5150 holds.

Uses clear, concise, professional communication and AIDET with patients and families. Acts with urgency, maintains department organization, reports equipment issues, and abides by HIPAA. Actively contributes to operations consistent with Pipeline Health mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • Experience assisting with hiring, counseling, staff evaluations, and scheduling in security
  • Knowledge of security protocols to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry
  • Ability to train staff on incident response, emergency assistance, and sensitive areas
  • Proficiency in investigating security incidents and enforcing access control policies
  • Skills in workplace violence prevention and de-escalation training
  • Familiarity with patient interventions including 5150 holds
  • Clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, and customers
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and safety escalation procedures

Responsibilities

  • Assists director ensuring Security Program policies and procedures are adhered to by security staff
  • Ensures security staff performs duties to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and assure safety of employees, patients, visitors
  • Provides training to new employees on Security Management Program, incident reporting, and sensitive areas
  • Implements and oversees documentation system for Security Incident reports from receipt to resolution
  • Identifies and develops programs related to workplace violence and trains staff on de-escalation
  • Participates in Environment of Care, Managers Meetings, and covers director duties during absences
  • Assists staff with interventions for disruptive patients on 5150 holds, visitors, and other staff
  • Uses AIDET in interactions with patients and family members and abides by HIPAA regulations
